Another project in wood, this one was completed by the extended class (two hours long with more experienced students). The grain of the wood shows through to give it a more realistic effect.

Pastels and Glue
This is an idea that I trialed in the school holiday classes and it was so successful I did it again with my after school classes. We had to spread it over two weeks to allow drying time for the glue, but the results are always brilliant.
Wooden Collage
For this project the children were given a block of wood and some pages from an old book. Then they had free reign on what to collage on the wood. The examples given were flowers, birdhouses and trees but as you can see the children added rockets, fighter pilots and haunted houses among other things to their work.

Blue Dog
George Rodrigue is a Cajun artist from Louisiana in the US. He is most well known for his series of Blue Dog paintings attributed to his deceased dog named Tiffany and the blue hued, ghostly spaniel/terrier is often featured with a white nose and yellow eyes.
These interpretations were done by my extended class using acrylics on canvas and I couldn't be more proud of the results!
